Battle of the Bands is Newcastle's Union's response to the excellent local music scene. We want to showcase the range of talent and build a relationship with local artists, offering them a stage, an audience...and a £300 prize. We'll run the event once a term and hope to have at least 20 local bands a year playing at the Union.

Farewell To Felix:

Indie/Rock: Farewell to Felix started roughly in May 2006. They found their feet by September 2006 and began to create their own take on the rock genre, with likings to Biffy Clyro and early Foo Fighters. As well as playing across Newcastle where they originated, Farewell To Felix have played at Leeds, York, Grantham, Sunderland, Durham and London. The band have also been played on several radio stations and have featured in several music and cultural magazines. In Feb 2007 they were winners of 'JD Unsigned Set' (a UK unsigned battle of the bands), which has been shown on Channel 4.
