Brace yourselves, because Leeds boys Hadouken! will be gracing the Basement stage in May 2008, with their unique grindie sound (a cross between grime and indie rock for the uninitiated). Combining energetic stage presence, heavy rock and synths, Hadouken! have received critical acclaim, and are regular guests of BBC Radio One's Zane Lowe. Thematically, two of Hakouden!'s songs and lyrics focus on the band's desire to fill the dance floor with creative and well-mannered dancers, mocking those who are too concerned with their image to dance. Other songs deal with subjects such as binge drinking, the commercial appropriation of underground music, relationships and debt.
