We Smoke Fags are Joey (Guitars/Vocals/Keys) Lee (Bass/Vocals) and Harry (Bass/Vocals), a band that manage to combine the jerky rhythms and sardonic wit of post punks bands such as the Flying Lizards and Bush Tetras, the supermassive bass sound of Fabio And Grooverider and the danceable riffs of The Prodigy.
Joey started the band as a myspace project, he had uploaded a series of Garageband demos and flippantly called them We Smoke Fags. Shortly after he found himself as a featured artist on myspace, getting 50,000 plays a day and thousands of Friend Requests. At this point it occurred to Joey that he may be onto something so he approached Lee and Harry who he’d met working behind the bar at Nambucca on Holloway Road about forming a band.After a few shows at Nambucca the band got offered a slot touring with Does it Offend You Yeah? Followed by a tour Shy Child. With their massive online following and growing live reputation We Smoke Fags started the year very much as a band to watch in 2008. The band will perform in Newcastle University Union Society on their first headline tour ahead of their debut single in May.
