Venue Hire

The Union Society offers a variety of flexible venues available for hire.

For gigs, conferences and parties of all sizes, The Basement and it's sister venue Basement 2 offer a flexible multi-venue site to accomodate your event. With a large stage and a capacity of 1,200, The Basement is the venue for our Freshers Fayre, gigs and even the CAMRA Newcastle Beer Festival.  

The Global Cafe on the top floor is also a highly flexible venue complete with comfy leather seating, bar and catering facilities, making it perfect for both informal and formal parties and presentations (maximum capacity 280). It even has two adjacent sister rooms, The Union Lounge and the MLK Lounge, which can be hired on their own or along with the Global Cafe. 

The area outside the Union's impressive facade offers a picturesque, central and high profile location for barbeques, gazebos and promotional events.  

We also have a number of training and meeting rooms, including the Function Suite, which can accomodate anything from 10 to 80 people.
